UTICA — Utica resident Hanka Grabovica is running for the Utica City School District Board of Education.

"I am running because I personally have a deep passion for children and public education," Grabovica said in a news release. "I have been an educator for over 10 years. My knowledge and experience will help me to provide leadership and build a vision all can share in. I will make sure that when we are making decisions to make sure at the end of the day we always make decisions in the best interest of our students."

Grabovica came to Utica when she was 16 years old from Bosnia and has been living in East Utica since 2001, the release said.
