The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill FFA will host Maple Weekend, a statewide event devoted to the recognition of the state’s maple industry, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 17, 18, 24 and 25 at the VVS High School.

The days begin with a pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to noon in the VVS High School cafeteria. Tickets are $8 for adults; $6 for senior citizens and children under 12, and free to preschoolers.

There will also be Maple Sap House Tours and Open House from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the FFA’s sap house and Maple Queen and Princess presentations, Cooking with Maple, at 10 a.m. in the cafeteria. Free wagon rides will also take guests to the maple sugarbush for free tours from 9 to 3.

Special events scheduled for Sunday, March 25, only include the 11 a.m. official New York Maple Sunday Syrup Season Tree Tapping Ceremony on the high school lawn and the announcement of the Maple Coloring Contest winners at 11:15 a.m.
