There has been another bout added for Ultimate Fight Championship’s first stop in Utica.
The newest bout for the popular mixed martial arts organization’s Fight Night card June 1 at the Adirondack Bank Center at Utica Memorial Auditorium will feature light heavyweights Gian Villante and Sam Alvey.
Villante is the No. 14 ranked light heavyweight and trains on Long Island. Villante (16-9-0) is coming off a split decision win over Francimar Barroso in January. Ten of Villante’s wins have come by knockout.
Alvey (32-10-0) is coming off a first-round knockout win over Marcin Prachnio in February. Alvey, who trains in California, has won 10 of his bouts by knockout.
The card, which has had a total of six bouts scheduled since the event was announced, will be headlined by No. 4 ranked bantamweight Jimmie Rivera and No. 5 ranked Marlon Moraes, two rising stars who are nearing a title shot in the weight class..
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6. Ticket prices have yet to be announced.
The UFC Fight Night in Utica is expected to be televised live on Fox Sports 1.
Additional bouts on the card include:
-- Gregor Gillespie (11-0-0, from the Rochester area) against Vinc Pichel (11-1-0, fighting out Simi Valley, California) in the lightweight class.
-- Walt Harris (10-7-0, fighting out Birmingham, Alabama) taking on Daniel Spitz (6-1-0, fighting out of Spokane, Washington) in the heavyweight division.
-- Hector Sandoval (14-4-0, fighting out Sacramento) against Jarred Brooks (13-1-0, fighting out of Detroit) in the flyweight division.
-- No. 2 ranked women’s flyweight contender Sijara Eubanks (3-2-0, fighting out of Toms River, New Jersey) and No. 3 Lauren Murphy, (10-3, fighting out of Glendale, Arizona).
The event in Utica will be the seventh in New York since MMA was made legal in April 2016. UFC, has made stops in New York City while other MMA events have been held in the area, including at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona.
