Clark Memorial Library:
The Project Club at the Clark Memorial Library in Oriskany Falls was cancelled again due to weather. It is supposed to be held the first Wednesday of the month, but I think maybe we should wait for better weather before we have any of the adult classes.
As I was writing my news column last Wednesday, we were getting a lot of snow and it was supposed to go on all day and into the night.
So many places closed and I can't blame them as the roads were terrible. I guess if you don't need to be out, it is best if you just stay home. I know that’s what I did. I got my shopping done and I was all ready for the storm.
We send sympathy to the family of Gaetano "Guy" Scerbo. Guy and his family used to live in Oriskany Falls and had a shoe store here where the Creekside Community Outreach Thrift Store is now located.
Guy had a shoe store in Waterville for many years and when he closed that store, he went to work for J.C. Penney and continued to sell shoes until he retired in January 2018. I guess his love for selling shoes never got boring as he was 92 and still working.
Guy was a very nice man and will be dearly missed by many people. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.
The US Navy's second stealth Zumwalt-class destroyer, the USS “Michael Monsoor,” has successfully completed its acceptance trials and has left Bath, Maine, and is headed out to sea for additional trials.
I mentioned this ship because when we took one of our bus trips to Maine, we were fortunate enough to have a tour of the Bath Iron Works and saw the first ship they were building.
We were lucky to be able to visit this facility because they no longer do tours there.
