Visiting Morrisville State College women’s hockey set the tone early Friday, Feb. 9, as they bested host Endicott College 3-1 in a battle of the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) top two teams, who were also undefeated, in Beverly, Massachusetts.
Three Mustangs registered goals on the night, including Maddison Devlin who posted the first of the night at the 15:39 mark in the opening period. Also scoring were Maria deWilde and Claire Newman.
Morrisville’s net minder Karoline Aarvik finished with 43 saves in the win.
The visiting Mustangs completed the weekend sweep to take over control of the conference standings Saturday as they downed Endicott 2-0 in the afternoon’s matchup held at the Bourque Arena in Beverly.
Morrisville’s goals came from Kylie Cameron and Ciara Lark.
Aarvik posted 39 saves in net to secure the shutout victory, including 18 in the second period, and another 10 in the third, to earn her the CHC's Goaltender of the Week for a third time this season.
Morrisville State (13-7-3), who sits at 8-0-2 in CHC action, takes over the lead in the conference standings, remaining the lone unbeaten team. The Mustangs will wrap up regular season action Friday and Saturday, Feb. 16 and 17, as they host Nichols College. Faceoffs are set for 7 and 2 p.m., respectively.
