The Madison varsity boys basketball team picked up another Central Counties League (CCL) victory with a 81-46 victory over Brookfield Tuesday, Feb. 6, on the Beavers’ home court in Brookfield.
Brookfield held a 17-13 lead at the end of the first stanza before the Blue Devils outscored the hosts in all three remaining periods (25-11, 24-13 and 19-5) to take the win.
Madison was led by Spencer Haviland and Sam Matteson with 27 and 25 points, respectively, while Colton Stone added another 17. Rounding out the scoring were Alex Cotter with four, and Mike Ford, Jordan Ferguson, Zach Zombeck, and Ethan Snyder with two apiece.
Two Brookfield players finished in double digits including Fred King with 15 and Josh Elliott 14. Carter Reilly and Cody Van Nort added six each, while Hunter King scored three and Tyrell Owen finished with two.
The Blue Devils traveled to Munnsville Thursday and returned home with a CCL win over Stockbridge Valley. After holding a 33-22 lead at the half, Madison outscored the Cougars 26-11 and 23-22 in the second half on the way to the 82-55 win.
Matteson, Haviland and Stone led MCS once again finishing with 25, 21 and 14 points, respectively.
Stockbridge was paced by Dylan Anderson with 19 and Andrew Renner with 16.
Madison and SVCS faced each other again in the CCL Tournament played Saturday in Cincinnatus with the Devils taking the 74-43.
For the third game in a row, Madison was led by Matteson (18), Haviland (17), and Stone (11). Snyder added another 11 in the win.
Anderson was the lone Stockbridge player to finish in double digits with 17 points.
