There's a mitten tree in city's west side

The city of Utica has a mitten tree.

A mitten tree is a tree or bush that is decorated with mittens, gloves, hats and scarves. The items are left with the hope that those who need them take them to keep warm. Those who do not need them are encouraged to leave items for those who do.

The tree is in the courtyard in front of the Old Main at the intersection of Whitesboro and Court streets.

It is unclear who set up Utica’s tree. A cardboard sign on the tree simply states “From Santa’s helpers.”
