The No. 4/4 Colgate women's ice hockey team defeated Quinnipiac 2-1 Friday, Jan. 5, and Princeton 3-2 Saturday on the road.
Megan Sullivan scored the game-winning overtime goal just 20 seconds into the extra period Friday night in Hamden, Connecticut. The goal was Sullivan's second overtime game-winning goal of the season and eighth overall goal in the winning effort while first-year Malia Schneider tied for the team lead with her 10th goal of the season.
Goaltender Julia Vandyk also came up big for the Raiders as she made 21 saves in the win, including eight saves in the final period.
Jessie Eldridge scored the game-winning goal with 3:43 to go in the third period Saturday afternoon at Hobey Baker Rink in Princeton, New Jersey. This was her fourth game-winner of the season. Sullivan got the Raiders on the board with exactly 12 minutes left in the first period to take a 1-0 lead.
Breanne Wilson-Bennett doubled the lead with 4:38 left in the second period. She led the Raiders with two points on a goal and an assist for her fifth multiple-point effort of the season.
Vandyk recorded 29 saves for Colgate.
The Raiders head home for the next seven games, starting next weekend when they host the Harvard Crimson and Dartmouth Big Green Friday and Saturday, Jan. 12 and 13 with puck drop set for 3 p.m. each day.
