The Morrisville State men’s ice hockey team defeated SUNY Canton 5-3, 5-3 in a home and away series last weekend in non-conference action.
The Mustangs used a strong second period and a two-goal effort from CJ Stubbs to defeat the Kangaroos on the road Friday, Dec. 1. Stevie Ray Adams, Nick DeVito, John Lauer scored one goal each in the game. Max Sund and Layne Martin recorded two assists each while Patrick Smith, John Lauer and DeVito each added an assist to the score. Jared Young recorded 22 saves in goal.
The Kangaroos traveled to Morrisville for Saturday’s game and the Mustangs rode the hot hand of DeVito to a second victory in as many games as all five Mustang goals were recorded by DeVito. Four assists each were credited to Aiden Conolly and Stubbs. Ryan Bochert and Jimmy Philbin recorded one assist each. Young tallied 40 saves, earning the win in net for Morrisville.
The Mustangs will look to capitalize on last weekends’ momentum as they return to conference play Friday and Saturday as they host Buffalo State. Start times for both games is 7 p.m.
