NEW HARTFORD - The Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES Career & Technical Education Center has been named a top 20 school nationally for its automotive program.

The designation comes from the 2017 WIX Filters and O’Reilly Auto Parts School of the Year Competition.

“We are honored with this recognition and must give credit to the partnerships we have that allow our students to learn not only in our program classroom and laboratory, but also in our regional automotive repair shops and service centers,” said David Stayton, principal of the education center.

The top 20 schools were selected from 370 nominations nationally. Four regional finalists will be selected and then a national winner announced on October 31.

The winner will receive a visit by Tomorrow’s Tech staff and program sponsors, a $2,500 WIX Filters donation, O’Reilly and WIX Filters gear, and travel for an instructor and guest to Las Vegas to attend a recognition dinner. The final four schools will each get a professional automotive tool set and a $250 gift card from O’Reilly’s Auto Parts.
