HERKIMER — A Mohawk woman was arrested for third-degree welfare fraud on Sept. 14, according to the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office Welfare Fraud Unit.
Alisa R. Thomas, 38, was also charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.
Thomas, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office, allegedly received $3,578 in New York State Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits between June 2015 and August 2017 she was not entitled to receive.
Thomas was arraigned in Little Falls City Court and released on her own recognizance, according to the release. She is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 11.
The Herkimer County Department of Social Services assisted the sheriff’s office in the arrest.
