The Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office Welfare Fraud Unit, with the assistance of the county Department of Social Services, has announced a welfare fraud arrest.
Alisa R. Thomas, 38, of Mohawk, was charged with third-degree welfare fraud, third-degree grand larceny and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, all felonies, officials said.
Thomas allegedly received $3,578 in New York State Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits between June 2015 and August 2017 i which she was not entitled to receive.
Thomas was arraigned at the City of Little Falls Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to return to court Wednesday, Oct. 11.
