NEWPORT — Assemblyman Marc Butler, R-Newport, has been endorsed by the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, the official New York state affiliated organization with the National Rifle Association, in his re-election campaign for the 118th Assembly District.

Butler was endorsed for his stalwart support of Second Amendment rights, his work to protect outdoor and shooting sports and his firm support of Remington Arms, according to a news release.

"I am honored to have received the endorsement of NYSRPA and am proud to partner with them to protect our Second Amendment rights in New York," said Butler in the release. "I have been a vocal opponent of the governor’s SAFE Act and have been working to repeal it here in upstate New York. Additionally, I have successfully fought off micro-stamping mandates on the manufacture of firearms, helping to preserve jobs at Remington Arms. Lastly, I have been a loyal supporter of the preservation of our heritage sports and have helped to protect the Conservation Fund from being raided. It is an honor and privilege to serve upstate New York in this manner."

"Marc Butler is NYSRPA’s endorsed candidate because he has demonstrated an unequivocal and consistent advocacy for the Second Amendment," Tom King, president of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, said in the release. "He is a proven leader and I trust him in the fight to uphold and restore our constitutional freedoms. I hold him in the highest regard and urge residents of the 118th who value our Second Amendment rights to cast their vote for Marc Butler."

In addition to the NYSRPA, Butler is endorsed by the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform parties.
