The Oriskany Falls High School All Class Reunion was held recently and brought close to 400 people to the celebration. Eddie Reilly and his committee worked long hours to put the reunion together and plan the three days of events.
It started on Thursday with a chicken barbecue and ice cream social in Douglass Park. The Limestone Ridge Historical Society was open for visitors to see the exhibit done by Judy Engle and Gaylene Fairchild. There were school pictures displayed on boards and the tables held various years of yearbooks. Other displays were of school uniforms, band flags, part of the school stage curtain and the old clock that was in the gym. Historical society members worked at the exhibit and it was fun watching the former students looking at yearbooks and taking pictures of each other reading them or standing next to one of the uniforms on display. The society building was also open on Saturday and more people stopped then.
On Friday, there was golf during the day and in the evening there was a well-attended event at the Oriskany Falls Firemen’s Field where Eddie Reilly and his band played and there was a bonfire.
On Saturday, tours of the former Oriskany Falls High School were available. Reilly had some displays set up at the school - flags, yearbooks, uniforms and more. This was the last time people could see the gymnasium because it will be turned into office spaces soon.
Many people visited the school and pictures were taken of the classes that were there.
What a wonderful event and we thank Eddie Reilly and his committee for all the work they did to make it a nice time to meet former classmates. A great job was done by everyone.
One thing asked at the reunion was what happened to the Curtis LaTraille Trophy. Just ask me; I can tell you what happened to it.
