The Morrisville State College men’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 season opening decision to host Nazareth College Friday afternoon, Sept. 2, in the opening round of the Doug May Memorial Soccer Classic in Rochester.
Mick Keilan registered five stops in the loss in his collegiate debut, as Nazareth posted 12 shots on the day.
Senior Mustang striker Joe Sheehan buried the first shot of the day for visiting Morrisville State College, and it proved to be the game winner as the Mustangs downed host RIT by a 1-0 final on Saturday in the second day of the competition.
Keilan turned away three to keep the Tigers scoreless, while posting his first collegiate shutout victory.
The win lifts Morrisville State to 1-1 on the season, as they return to the field Saturday, Sept. 10, for the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener against SUNY Polytechnic.
