The Colgate women’s soccer team took a 4-0 lead into halftime and never looked back as the Raiders earned a 5-1 victory over visiting Fairleigh Dickinson on Sept. 1 at Beyer-Small ’76 Field in Hamilton.
First-year Abby Sotomayor tallied two of Colgate’s goals, while Sarah Coy, Caroline Parsons and Natalie Kozlowski each chipped in one apiece. Junior Eliza Doll finished the game with three assists, while Coy and first-year Mara Cosentino also recorded a helper.
First-year keeper Kelly Chiavaro played for the first 83:14 and registered three saves, while sophomore Laura Leonard was the Colgate netminder for the final 6:46.
Colgate ran into a tough Providence team Sunday night and wasn’t able to get much going as the Raiders fell 5-0 in Providence, Rhode Island. It marked the previously unbeaten Raiders’ first loss of the season.
Chiavaro finished with four saves in the effort.
The Raiders head to Yale and Central Connecticut State this weekend and take on Yale at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, before traveling to CCSU at 3 p.m. Sunday.
