A Utica man received felony charges last week after allegedly stealing women's purses left in unlocked cars as women returned shopping carts at a grocery store.

On September 2,  Utica Police Investigators charged Ronald Klaus, 39, of 1431 Genesee St. in Utica with: 

-Four counts of fourth-degree grand larceny;

-One count of third-degree grand larceny.

All charges are felonies.

Police say Klaus allegedly stole women's purses from their unlocked cars  as they were returning shopping carts to the parking lot cart corral at the Genesee Street Price Chopper in Utica.

In another theft Klaus allegedly stole a  woman's purse from the top of a shopping cart as she turned momentarily away to look at store items.
