LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. – New Benton Hall Academy teachers met with their mentors Aug. 26 as part of a new initiative by the Little Falls City School District to pair new teachers up with more experienced teachers to help them through the school year.

The meeting included a bus tour of the community, a visit from the union president to discuss contracts and a meeting with the director of safety to talk about procedures. After lunch, the afternoon was an informational session for the teachers to look at curriculum and to plan instruction.

Nick Godzak, new music teacher at Little Falls High School, is being mentored by Stacie Luczynski, a high school music and band teacher. Heidi Kreiger, a high school math teacher, is being mentored by Carolyn Wallace, also a high school math teacher. Andrea Bambara, who will be a special education teacher at the middle school and Benton Hall Academy, will be mentored by Nicole Crandall at the middle school and Chris Toher at Benton Hall.

Annemarie Weber will be a new first grade teacher with Becky Kubecka as the mentor. Hope Miller will be a special education and RTI teacher at Benton Hall with Lisa Reile as a mentor. Jennifer Reid filled in for Reile on Friday. Sara Salamone will be a new kindergarten teacher this year with Kristen Ford as the mentor.

Mentors will meet with new teachers once a month throughout the rest of the school year.
