The Sherburne Community Chorus invites new members to join their group for their upcoming season.

Rehearsals are held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Sherburne-Earlville High School Choral Room. The first rehearsal will be Sept. 7. There are no auditions; however experience in choral singing and choral music reading is beneficial.

The 30-40 member chorus has provided concerts for the region since it was established and directed by Red Raville in 1969. At present, the group has members representing the communities of Morrisville, Eaton, Hamilton, Earlville, Sherburne, Smyrna, Norwich, Oxford and other outlying areas.

Under the direction of Anne Caton, with Rosemary Jaytanie as accompanist, the chorus plans a December concert entitled “A Yuletide Celebration” slated for Dec. 17. It will feature some ancient carols, new arrangements of familiar carols and some newer stylistic selections fitting for the season. Also featured during the concert will be a small orchestral chamber group and local folk musicians.
