The Colgate Living Writers series kicks off Sept. 8 with the Hamilton Movie Theater free premiere of ‘NUTS!’ directed by Penny Lane, a member of the Colgate Art and Art History Department.

Lane’s newest documentary, ‘NUTS!’ won a special editing award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and it comes with an interactive annotation feature available on the Living Writers site. ‘NUTS!’ tells the story of John Romulus Brinkley, who, in 1917, offered a cure for impotence by transplanting goat testicles.

Walk the red carpet beginning at 4 p.m. and pose for a photo with Lane. There will be a short talk and then a question and answer period following the 4:30 p.m. show.

Tickets are limited and can be printed by visiting www.pennylanetickets-lw.eventbrite.com,

This event, co-sponsored by Film and Media Studies, opens the fall 2016 Living Writers program, which features 10 award-winning writers of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, as well as a filmmaker and a cartoonist.
